YJ ’12: We’re going to vote on a revised version of the meeting procedures. See the word document on the blog: sga.blogs.brynmawr.edu

Approve: Everyone.

Planga Review

YJ ’12: The founder of Planga came and did a Planga demo on Friday. If you guys have your computer now you can sign up and then request to be a member of SGA so we can send notices and special messages to you through Planga. We put in all the events until Plenary in Planga. All of the SGA meetings will be on there. The agenda items will also be on there.

Budget Workshop

Tina Hu ‘12: We had the budget workshop this weekend. What did people think?

Sarah Theobald ‘12: How did the rule that if you don’t spend x amount you can only spend x amount come about and who made it?

Tina Hu ‘12: I brought it to the exec board and the SFC committee. There are clubs who ask for money and consistently don’t spend it. So this is my way of making sure the clubs spend their money.

Sarah Theobald ’12: How does this work for new clubs?

Tina Hu ’12: We said three semesters because a treasurer of a club can be a treasurer for a year, so that accounts for new leadership. If anyone doesn’t agree with the amount of funding their club gets, they can always appeal.

Nora Chong ’12: I appreciated that it was concise. I thought it was  appropriate to have a longer one the first semester and a shorter one the second semester.

Irene Shin ’13: When clubs didn’t spend the money what did they do with it?

Tina Hu ‘12: The money goes back into SGA budget.  Almost everyone pays SGA dues, which go into the SGA account. At the beginning of the semester I say where the money goes. This new policy is a matter of allocation. If a club doesn’t spend the money, it takes it away form another club.

YJ ’12: SGA budget is a result of SGA dues, which are like taxes. It’s important for students to get involved in SGA, because if they’re not involved people can make decisions about their money.

Summary of the Communications Campaign

YJ ’12: There’s a new communications committee that gets out information about SGA. We have an SGA banner that’s going to hang in Pem arch for a few weeks leading up to Plenary. We have posters that we’re going to put up on campus. Lead up to Plenary. We have buttons to signify that people are in SGA. We’re going to measure the success of the campaign by sending out surveys multiple times. We will send out a few in the upcoming weeks and after plenary. It’s important to see what students are thinking about SGA.

Plenary Review

YJ ’12: There are several changes to Plenary. Erdman will be open from 9am to 1pm. Estimated time to end is 2:30. There will be a campaign to get pledges to attend Plenary the week before.

Present and brainstorm ideas for future agenda items

YJ ’12: Next week we’ll have an elections discussion. Any ideas of what we want to talk about in the future?

Irene Shin ’13: I was curious if we could possibly bring the faculty rep of the faculty to the big cheese?

YJ ’12: That would have to happen under the next administration.  But that’s a good idea. If you have any ideas feel free to email sga@brynmawr.edu.
