Announcements
Priya Saxena ’12: Radnor Halloween was really successful and safe. Thanks for coming, it was nice to see you.
Jennifer Savage ‘12: As you all know tonight is Lantern Night, we want to ask the Assembly if you have time, to come help tie in TGH after the meeting. I have Lantern Night t-shirts for sale and they are being sold for $15.
Gabby Marangell ’12: Laura Kemper, the athletic trainer is giving a talk on nutrition this Wednesday at the Athletics Association meeting, anyone is welcome to attend.
Yong Jung Cho ’12: The Appointments Committee is going to start accepting applications for the new Computer Access Committee and applications for the Admissions Representative.
Sophie: Next week is the Big Cheese meeting. President McAuliffe, Dean Rasmussen, Bernie Chung from Dining Services, John Griffith and Jenny Rickard will all be there. Please bring your friends we want a big turnout. I’ve let them know some of the things you want covered, so hopefully they will come with a lot of useful information.
The Seven Sisters Conference is coming up, and I’ve sent an email out asking for volunteers.Sign ups for volunteer jobs are on Blackboard. We would like as many people as possible to sign up by Tuesday. We hope Assembly members can sign up for at least one shift. We’re expecting about 30 to 40 students from the other schools to attend.
Your Two Cents
Meeting with President McAuliffe
Sophie: Last Monday some of us met with President McAuliffe, to talk about some issues on campus. Does anyone who attended want to present what we talked about?
Katie Dahl ’11: We talked about the Plenary resolutions and what was coming from them. We also talked about what she meant about the word “vibrancy”, and how the students felt about it.
Sophie: We talked about international students and how we can better serve them.
Laurel Lemon ‘11: I think I also brought up Goodhart.
Sophie: We brought up the ongoing issues about that. Also on Monday I met with the Haverford presidents, and what they’re working on. They want to add a new blue bus stop and coordinating class times.
Priya Saxena ’12: We had that resolution about key cards that didn’t pass because Haverford’s Plenary ran long, can we bring that up again? I would be willing to do it, but if anyone wants to collaborate, that would be nice.
Halloween, Alcohol Concerns Review Board
Sophie: We haven’t appointed an ACRB because we’re unsure what it should be, and we don’t know what you want from this committee. Is there any opinion on what this committee should be doing?
Adelyn Kishbaugh ’12: What have they done in the past?
Sophie: A couple years ago there was an overhaul in the party policy and they were involved in reworking that. They also work closely with Mary Beth Horvath. Do you think they should be working with her, or should it be more student initiated?
Adelyn Kishbaugh ’12: Are we looking to take it in a new direction?
Katharine Woolls ’12: Why does it need to go in a new direction?
Sophie: Because they don’t have a policy to review and they need a new job. We’re going to do a straw vote to see if you feel this committee should be appointed. Okay, we’ll bring this up at a later meeting.
